Alexandre Desplat has been chosen to preside over the competition as the president of Jury.
The 71st Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia, will run on Venice Lido from 27th August to 6th September 2014, directed by Alberto Barbera.
David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' will make its world premiere as the opening night film at the 52nd New York Film Festival on September 27.
The New York Film Festival, hosted annually at Lincoln Center, runs through October 13.
Gone Girl is an adaptation of a mystery-drama novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. The film is scheduled for release on October 3, 2014.
Flynn has stated that the film will deviate from the novel, as its story will be structured differently.
Fincher also opened the New York Film Festival in 2010 with The Social Network.
