Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations Announced

There are some surprises in SAG nominations, Guilds' first major precursor. Naomi Watts getting in Supporting nomintaion for St. Vincent and Jennifer Aniston pulling a blinder for Cake are big ones and sure to be a talking point. Steve Carell and Jake Gyllenhal getting in for Foxcatcher and Nightcrawler, respectively, in the lead category likely booast their chances if not increase their odds. Birdman leads with 4 nominations followed by Boyhhod, the Imitation Game and the Theory of Everything, with 3 each. Benedict Cumberbatch gets 3 nominations, 2 for The Imitation Game and a lead nomination for Sherlock: His Last Vow in TV Miniseries. He was recently felicitated with Variety Awards over at Moet BIFA Awards. He's having a great year and there's a valid support for him from his peers, at TV And Picture. Selma's notable absence owes to Paramount not having sent the Screeners in time for Voting.
